The Tampa Bay Rays sign Brad Coon

The Rays have signed 29-year old lefty swinging outfielder Brad Coon to a minor league deal. Coon played in 103 games in AA+AAA-ball last year and he was 76 for 283 (.269 avg, .750 OPS) with 46 runs scored, 0 homers, 20 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. He has now played in 742 games in his first 7 years in the minors and he is 742 for 2,671 (.278 avg, .725 OPS) with 455 runs scored, 18 homers, 217 RBIs and 196 stolen bases. Coon will likely start the 2012 season in AAA-ball for the Rays.
